The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has recovered the corpse of a baby girl abandoned by the roadside in Hadeija LGA of Jigawa state.
According to NAN, Adamu Shehu, NSCDC spokesperson, spoke on the development on Sunday in Dutse, the Jigawa capital.
Shehu said the corpse of the baby was discovered by residents of Kandahar Quarters.
He said the baby was confirmed dead at Hadejia General Hospital and has been handed to Sani Afenza, the ward head of the area. He assured that the incident would be investigated to ensure the culprits are prosecuted.
Meanwhile, a 10-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a pond in Buji LGA of the state.
Commenting on the development, the NSCDC spokesperson said: “His body was found two hours after he drowned and was pronounced dead by a doctor.” He said the corpse of the boy has been handed over to the parents.
